How Do Older Adults Embrace Emerging Technologies?
The Digital Divide has caught Older Adults Off guard and leaving many fearful because they are unprepared and being left behind. The digital divide starts with how language changes from generation to generation, just as lyrics and beats in music changes through generations. These changes become pivotal in our society and are not easily made comprehensible to the former generation. The change brought to our society through Language include new usage and different definitions that refer to the same word spoken in the past. This digital divide creates such a confusion to the older generations.
There is not doubt that the digital divide has intentionally been designed to bring about this communication discontentment. These language barriers divide cultures and different age groups. Today’s technology comes with the challenge of its own set of symbol and word definitions. The older generations did not grow up in the computer age and today technology language which dominates and make obsolete the former.
